PIAZZOLLA  Bonus…a surprise encore announced from the stage

FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:

The exquisite United Church of Angel Fire is a perfect setting for the first of our two concerts entitled Eight Seasons, juxtaposing the Four Seasons by both Vivaldi and Piazzolla.  Vivaldi’s Spring and Summer will be intertwined with Piazzolla’s Autumn and Winter in an evening that is sure to be one of the highlights of the Season.  Piazzolla’s works, brilliantly arranged by Leonid Desyatnikov, are a showcase for the solo violin and if one listens carefully, they will hear quotes from the corresponding seasons of Vivaldi.  The violin soloists will be two of our Young Artists from the Curtis Institute and the two violinists from the Harlem Quartet.  The concert ends with a bonus surprise encore by Piazzolla.
