From the Artistic Director: Continuing our presentation of Debussy’s final works, this program opens with the very last work this composer wrote, the great and poignant Violin Sonata, written in 1916 when he was gravely ill and war was raging around him. The program closes with a very accessible novelty, the quintet of the great British composer, Frank Bridge. These two great works will surround the main event of our entire season, a World Premiere by our Composer-in-Residence, Steven Stucky. Stucky has created a work based on the sculptures of Andy Goldsworthy, and images of these great works will be part of this evening’s presentation.
